The Houston Rockets were the protagonists to the Golden State’s championship celebration, defeating The Warriors 122-121 on opening night.
The Warriors enjoyed the love of the crowd as they unveil their new championship banner in the rafters. The players and the coaching staff were all complete for the ceremony. The players are very elated as selected lucky fans gave them their Championship rings.
In the 1st quarter the Warriors were off to a good start, draining a lot of 3-pointers in the first few minutes of the quarter. Klay Thompson was on fire, he finished the game with 16 points and 6 rebounds. The Warriors led throughout the majority of the game, but unfortunately was unable to take the dagger punch and secure the win.
The Rockets outscored the Warriors 34-20 in the final quarter, which made the huge difference in the ball game. James Harden led the rockets with 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists. While PJ Tucker and Eric Gordon both had a strong performance, they combined for 44 points off the bench.
The Rockets never lost composure and fought back to make it a close game late in the final quarter. Kevin Durant’s game-winning buzzer-beater was not counted after the officials reviewed the shot. The replay showed the ball was still in KD’s hands as the clock expired. Nick Young coming off the bench led Golden State’s scoring power with 23 points, draining six three-pointers, while Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant added 22 and 20 points. Draymond Green with a solid opening performance. One point shy of a triple-double. 9 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists.
