There will be blood.

Watch the first trailer for Alien: Covenant, from the direction of Ridley Scott – a follow-up to Prometheus that directly connects to the original Alien.

The film focuses on the crew of the Covenant, a colony ship whose members believe they have stumbled upon a new paradise. It’s through their exploration, however, that they discover the artificially intelligent David (Michael Fassbender), the survivor of the catastrophic Prometheus expedition.

Fassbender will be joined by James Franco, Guy Pearce and Katherine Waterston. Alien: Covenant hit theaters on May 19, 2017.

Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
