A great white shark was able to breach a cage while a diver was still inside it.
The video, which was posted to YouTube on Thursday, starts with the shark leaping out of the water to eat some tuna tied to a rope.
“So this shark lunged at the bait, accidentally hit the side of the cage, was most likely confused and not able to swim backwards, it thrust forward and broke the metal rail of the cage,” the dad wrote.
The great white shark, also known as the great white, white pointer, white shark, or white death, is a species of large nonuniform shark which can be found in the coastal surface waters of all the major oceans.
Their sharp, serrated teeth can be devastating. A single, large bite can be fatal. When these sharks are young, they feed on smaller prey, like fish and rays. As they grow larger, they feed more exclusively on marine mammals, such as sea lions, seals and small whales.
